A Christmas eve crash on Parkway East that involved two cars sent three people to area hospitals. One of the injured people was a 26-year-old woman who was driving the wrong way on the westbound lanes before causing the car accident with a Jeep Cherokee. Police say that they are waiting for test results on whether or not the woman was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
All parties are thankfully expected to recover, but an unexpected car crash can wreak havoc on a person's life. Medical bills, car repairs and recovering from the emotional trauma of being involved in an accident can be consuming.
When involved in a car crash, it is important to take the proper steps to make sure that you are protected. Always call the police so that a police report can be filed. Establishing fault is important in a lawsuit, and a police determination of who caused the accident can be very useful. It is also helpful to take photographs after the accident since the state of a car can change quickly and personal injuries can begin to heal.
Taking the right documentations after an accident can make a Pittsburgh car accident lawyer's job much easier, potentially speeding up a court case or a settlement offer. Victims of car accidents can recover monetary damages for a wide variety of incidentals associated with the accident. Whether a vehicle is damaged or completely totaled, an at-fault driver can be held responsible for those bills.
When someone drives negligently, whether that means distracted driving or driving under the influence, they can be held liable for the damage they cause and the people they hurt.
